With me and my clients, it usually takes 2-3 physical samples to get a new design approved. Rarely is it ever more than that.
If it is taking way more samples, it might be because:
- You were unsure of the design and keep changing your mind
- Fit changes are getting lost in communication between you and your patternmaker
- The fabric got changed half way through development
- Your product is highly technical and requires special rounds of sampling for material, fit, or functional testing
