More is not always more. The most striking looks are created with careful editing, proportions, and balance in mind.
It is not just outfits that can be over-accessorized. I think individual garments can be over-accessorized too. Too many design details crammed into one garment can look cluttered. Trims that are too heavy for the fabric or too large for the placement can weigh down the design both physically and visually.
You certainly don’t have to play it safe when you design, but there needs to be balance. Pick one area as the focal point that brings the drama. Then layer the supporting elements around that. Sometimes removing a detail is the best way to allow the rest of the garment to make a statement.
