Love it or hate it designs

If you look at a design and aren’t sure if you love it or hate it, that is usually a good thing. It means it is different, incites a strong reaction, and perhaps is even polarizing.

Note, this love it or hate it feeling is not the same as being unsure or so-so. The extreme like or dislike reactions don’t average each other out. The unremarkably okay middle is what you want to avoid. Sure, no one will hate an average design, but no one will truly love it either.

This love-hate reaction means that some people will be huge fans while others will strongly dislike it. Either way, everyone will be talking about it. It will be memorable.

Learn to recognize when you have this reaction towards a design. For a group of your customers, it might end up being that perfect-fit design that no one else has dared to make.
