Your business is growing you

Teenage me would have been horrified by what I do for my job now.

The girl who was so shy she could barely make a phone call would not have believed that she would one day choose to be on frequent video calls, get on a plane to fly and meet people she met on the internet, or write to hundreds of people daily.

This transformation didn’t happen all at once. It has resulted from years of my business challenging me to step outside of my comfort zone and try things that felt risky. I’m naturally tempted to play it safe, but running a business has been my excuse to be brave.

As much as we think we are the ones growing our businesses, it is just as much the other way around. Our businesses are growing us.

Being an entrepreneur, especially in a scrappy industry like fashion, means constantly learning new things. Business growth and personal growth come hand in hand along the way.

My business still tests me with things that make me nervous, but I’d like to think that my younger self would be proud of the things I’ve learned to overcome so far.

How has your business challenged and grown you? I’d love to hear if you are willing to share.
