Growing up, my family had a Thanksgiving tradition of writing what we were thankful for on “leaves” cut from bits of colored scrap paper. We’d go around the dinner table and read the leaves, then hang them on a string swagged over the fireplace to create a garland.
While I’m not able to share a Thanksgiving table and create a leaf garland with you today, I wanted to share the things I’d write on my leaves if we did:
I’m thankful that you allow me space in your inbox every weekday to talk about creating fashion that fits. It has made me dive deeper into the meaning and the practice of making clothes.
I’m thankful for those of you who have replied to the emails with your thoughts and questions. I have learned from the insightful conversations we’ve had and enjoyed getting to know you!
I’m thankful that you care for both the craft and the community of fashion. There are many places where fashion is known for being competitive and secretive, but you have shown up to this space friendly and collaborative.
I’m thankful this is what I get to do as my job.
Are there any “leaves” you’d add to our fashion Thanksgiving garland?
