I have this theory that hair texture trends and fabric texture trends go hand in hand.
In the early 2000s, straight, glossy hair was the “it” look. For fabrics, slick satin and silky draped knits were also in and featured as slip dresses and slinky halter tops.
Now, I see more women embracing natural hair textures, curls, and beachy waves for their hair. For fabrics, the textured fabrics with a dry hand are more popular. I see fabrics like slub knits, natural linen and flax, and premium handwovens being used by many designers I work with.
