Depending on what type of factory and patternmaker you are working with, there are a few other sections that are sometimes in a tech pack, but not always. These sections are the order of operations and the pattern card or cutter’s must.
These sections can only be created once the pattern is completed and can only be done by someone who understands production sewing. If you are working with a factory that is making your pattern for you, there is no need to include these sections in your tech pack. The factory can make their own order of operations for themselves to use internally.
The order of operations is the list of steps it takes to make your design. The factory will create this or use the one in your tech pack to cost out each step and give you a production price. Not only are the steps themselves important, but the order in which they are done has implications on the quality and the production speed.
The pattern card lists all the pieces included in the pattern. This page is usually attached to the hard copy pattern so whoever uses it can check that they have all the needed pieces.
Similarly, the cutter’s must is an inventory of the pattern pieces along with how many need to be cut of each. The cutter’s must also notes the cut lengths of any trims needed for the style.
If you are working with a patternmaker prior to sending your tech pack to the factory, they can add these sections to the tech pack.
