Do the clothes you design make the women who wear them feel seen?
To make clothes that fit, you have to pay attention to each detail of the garment. But beyond that, you have to pay attention to the person wearing the garment.
As I’ve said before, you can’t make clothes that fit without knowing who they are for. Knowing who the target customer is is crucial, but seeing her is better. See the person as a fellow human. Take time to listen to her likes and dislikes. Notice how she moves and what makes her smile. Observe her shape without any judgment.
Design built on empathy, understanding, and respect honors the person wearing the garment. It also creates a better fit because seeing the person makes it easier to see how the garment can be improved.
